How it is assessed

How WEM8-CS is assessed

There is no examination and no mark. You compile a portfolio of evidence at your workplace covering eight work experience modules: filing statutory returns and lodging CIPC forms, advising directors on their duties under the common law, the Companies Act 2008, the MOI and listing requirements, preparing for and reporting on three kinds of company meeting, drafting correspondence to directors and stakeholders, preparing and circulating meeting documentation, and monitoring and reporting compliance with the Companies Act, the Companies Regulations and King. CIPC forms may be completed as dummy documents rather than filed. Your supervisor — a company secretary or governance professional with at least three years' relevant experience, including supervisory experience — signs off each module as Competent or Not Yet Competent, and different supervisors may sign different modules. The portfolio is indexed, paginated and uploaded to Moodle as a PDF; allow 30 working days for each assessment. It cannot be completed in under three months, sensitive information may be redacted, and work products from up to three years before you registered may be used.
