1How Work Experience Module (Governance Practitioner) is assessed
Each part of the WEM7 guide opens by setting out what the work experience module asks for, the work products that satisfy it, and what a supervisor is signing off.
Every part closes with a note like this one: the point on which portfolios are most often sent back, and how to avoid it. Register interest in WEM7 to be told when its material is ready.
How it is assessed
How WEM7 is assessed
There is no examination and no mark. You compile a portfolio of evidence at your workplace covering nine work experience modules — registering small companies, business communication, interpreting financial statements, governance, risk and compliance, adapting standard contracts, testing compliance across intellectual property, insolvency, competition, consumer protection, banking and trusts, advising stakeholders on governance problems, management activities, and workplace soft skills. Your supervisor — a governance professional or company secretary with at least three years' relevant experience, including supervisory experience — signs off each module as Competent or Not Yet Competent in their own logbook. The portfolio is indexed, paginated and uploaded to Moodle as a PDF with the assessment form and proof of payment; allow 30 working days for each assessment or resubmission. It cannot be completed in under three months, and work products from up to three years before you registered with CGISA may be used. A Not Yet Competent result can be resubmitted.
Based on: CGISA Work Experience Modules FAQ (June 2024) and the NQF 7 Governance Practitioner supervisor logbook (March 2024). Confirm the current format in your tutorial letter or module guide.
